Meet Monique

November 9, 2016

Today, I am overwhelmed with the feeling of gratitude. It has been an honor and privilege to run as the GOP-endorsed candidate for the Minnesota House of Representatives in District 65A. I’m overwhelmed by all the support I received, not only from friends and family, but from so many of the people in Saint Paul! We are truly blessed to live in such a great city. I met so many amazing people during the campaign and I am a better person for the experience.

Congratulations to my opponent, Rena Moran, on her reelection tonight. Her story is one of courage and perseverance and although she beat me tonight, I stand ready to work with Rena and all our elected officials. Regardless of the outcomes of tonight’s elections, we are all neighbors and working together we can make Saint Paul a great place to live.

Meet Monique

Monique’s mother taught her - you can learn something from every single person you meet. Monique’s Portuguese father immigrated to the United States to live the American dream where he ran a successful small business garden center. These lessons drive Monique’s passion to see every person achieve their dreams and live their lives to the fullest.

Raised in Minnesota, Monique now works at Regions Hospital as a cancer center clinical pharmacist. Due to her work within many healthcare systems and her hands on care for cancer patients, every day she sees the challenges we face with our broken Healthcare system. The rising cost of healthcare and the burden that puts on families is not only hurting families, its detrimental to our economy. Monique believes every family deserves affordable healthcare and the freedom to choose their healthcare team.

Monique knows no one knows better than mothers and fathers in doing what’s best for their families. Parents understand what their children need to learn, grow and succeed. Parents should have options when it comes to picking the right school for their children. Education is the foundation for the future, and our students deserve the best teachers, not the most tenured.

Already making an impact in areas that are important to her core beliefs, Monique serves as faculty for American College of Clinical Pharmacy/American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Oncology Pharmacy Preparatory Review Course and is a co-founder of the Upper Midwest Oncology Education Network; a non-profit organization providing contemporary cancer education to healthcare professionals.

Monique is more than qualified to serve, with extensive experience and education. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Doctor of Pharmacy and went on to complete additional education and training by completing a general pharmacy residency at the VA North Texas Healthcare Center and a Hematology/Oncology specialty pharmacy residency at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota.  She later earned board certification in oncology pharmacy.

Monique and her husband are very active, spending much of their free time with family and friends, running, biking, golfing, traveling and her embracing new found hobby of gardening.
